Regular Outreach
The CU believes that regular outreach is a very important part of our ministry and helps us to reach students "who are blind to the truth of the Gospel". Each week we run 3 events that are aimed at showing God's love and sharing the Gospel with people on our campus. The abbreviation ACTs is often used, meaning:

  • ALPHA -  Each Monday evening everyone meets up for a meal followed by a short talk, addressing key issues relating to the Christian faith.  After the talk we split into smaller groups where there is plenty of opportunity to discuss and ask questions over coffee, and maybe a donut!  Alpha is a great place to express your point of view -  no question is too simple or too hostile.

  • CAFE (International Cafe) - International Cafe aims to welcome International Students to university by providing a cafe especially for them on a Wednesday night. It gives them a chance to meet other International Students and people from the CU, as well as sample a wide range of foods and take part in themed evenings.

  • TOASTIE BAR - We make and hand out toasties in the chaplaincy, across from Strathclyde Union from 10pm on to when the Union shuts. Toastie bar is a great opportunity to speak to our fellow students about Jesus and hand out gospels and flyers.  God has worked through us in amazing ways and toastie bar really is a unique was in which the CU is very active on campus, where people are at.

Please click on the headings for more information on each of these regular outreach events.

ALPHA
Alpha for Students in Glasgow is relaxed and informal:  it is open to anyone, student or otherwise.  It is primarily aimed at those who are interested in investigating Christianity, regardless of belief or church attendance and it's an opportunity to step back from the busyness of life and explore the meaning of our existence.

ALPHA RUNS EVERY MONDAY NIGHT
FROM 6:30 @ THE KOG CAFE
IN THE MERCHANT CITY

Every week there is a free meal

Followed by a short talk and discussion time

Directions to the KOG:

The KOG cafe can be found at 85 Parnie Street, just parallel to the Trongate - indicated by blue square on map.  If you're coming from Argyle Street...  continue to the end of the pedestrian section (at M&S), here it turns into the Trongate (slightly less glamorous!).  Walk straight on and then after MacDonalds turn right at the traffic lights.  Then take the 1st right into Parnie Street - the KOG is just on your left at the end.  Getting lost is part of the adventure!

The Alpha Course also has its own web-site at: http://www.studentalpha.info
