Our Small Groups

Aim: To grow in the knowledge of God through Bible Study.

We have mixed small groups of 6-8 people, with a male and female leader in each.  We encourage each group member to study the passage for around 2 hours before going to the group. This lets everybody prayerfully pray and consider the passge before meeting to discuss it.

All our small groups meet on a Tuesday evening starting at 7:30pm and going on until around 9:30-10pm.  There are four small groups meeting in different flats in the city centre, east end, and just the other side of the Clyde.

If you would like more information, to ask a question or to join a small group please contact Amy at amy.davies@strath.ac.uk

Small Groups for Semester Two start back during Week One, i.e. Tuesday 29th January 2008.  This semester we will be studying the book of Romans.

Semester One - Hebrews

Last semester our small groups studied the book of Hebrews.  I found it particularly interesting to study the differences between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant and how Jesus perfectly fulfills the role of Great High Priest.  Some of the verses that I struck me and that I will remember are:

"In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in many ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Song, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe.  The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.  After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the majesty in Heaven."    Hebrews 1:1-3

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.  Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.  Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart."   Hebrews 12:1-3

I pray that this is what we will do this year, fix our eyes on Jesus, who already has the victory and is sitting down at the right hand of the throne of God.
